(Photo via Novotel Bangkok)The number of Japanese restaurants in Thailand increased to 3,004 by the end of August, up 8.3% from the same date a year earlier, the Bangkok office of the Japan External Trade Organisation said Thursday. While the number of Japanese restaurants in the capital Bangkok slipped by 1.2%, the figure rose by 24.3% in other parts of the Southeast Asian nation, the Japanese government-backed Jetro said. By speciality, the number of sushi restaurants was up 79.4% to reach 454 across Thailand, with the Japanese cuisine's popularity rising especially outside Bangkok, it said.
